Head to Head Subaru Levorg 2.0GT and Skoda Octavia RS

If you are considering a Subaru Levorg for sale, you are already likely to have done some research on your options. However, if you are still sitting on the fence, you may be interested to see how the model stacks up against another popular model in the segment; the Skoda Octavia RS.

Spec and Pricing:

In terms of cost, there is very little between the two models. The Levorg has a slightly higher price tag at $42,990 plus on the road costs. Each model is equipped with adaptive cruise control, rear view camera, ISOFIX child restraint anchors, autonomous braking and seven airbags. Both models have also been awarded a five star ANCAP safety rating, climate control, 18 inch alloys, rear privacy glass, daytime running lights and push button start.

The Levorg features the Subaru calling card of all wheel drive teamed with a horizontally opposed Boxer engine, while the Skoda has only front wheel drive.

While the Skoda does have a slightly larger touchscreen and part leather seats, the Subaru has low beam LED headlights and rear USB inputs, which allow back seat passengers to charge their devices.

Inside the Cabin:

Subaru has made some fantastic changes to cabin ambiance, and this has never been clearer than in the Levorg cabin. The interior feels well made and plush with soft plastic touchpoints. There are some great highlights including aluminium pedals, comfy grip steering wheel, and chunky vent dials. The design feels contemporary and sleek with comfortable seats with great ergonomics. On the other hand, the Octavia RS feels a little austere. Unless you opt for plenty of added extras, you may find that the cabin feels cold, despite the VW quality.

The space for rear passengers for both models is good. There is lots of room even if your rear passengers are on the tall side. The Skoda does have a little more cargo space at 588 litres, but the loading area on the Subaru is better finished with a good loading lip and nicer carpeting.

Performance:

Both models are equipped with a turbocharged 2.0 litre petrol engine, but the Subaru has the more power at 197 kW compared to 162 kW on the Skoda. The horizontally opposed position of the Levorg also marks a point of difference. Additionally, although the Skoda has a lighter kerb weight, the Subaru still has a quicker 0-100 kph rate of 6.6 seconds compared to the 7.1 on the Skoda.

On the road, the Subaru’s sporting character is easy to see. It offers pace and performance that puts all its power down thanks to all wheel drive. The AWD system also provides drivers with additional confidence when driving on more challenging road conditions, such as in the wet or on gravel.
